The Book Shop teamed up with Preus Library to host a readout on Tuesday, October 12, 2012. Celebrating Banned Book Week, several participants read passages from books that had previously been banned or challenged. The Book Shop highlighted the book, Wizard of Oz, which had been challenged for depicting "good" witches and for elevating animals to the same level as humans as well as other issues.

Several activities throughout the week were also scheduled in the Library, as well as the downtown community,  celebrating our right to read.
