Christmas in the Union 2011

Christmas in the Union, an annual event sponsored by the Luther College Student Activities Council Special Events Committee, the Luther Book Shop and Luther Dining Services, was held on Wednesday, December 7, 2011.

Luther students, staff, faculty and the Decorah community participated in activities throughout the day. In the Book Shop, customers munched on popcorn, enjoyed store discounts and signed up friends for Santa's Naughty or Nice list.

From 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. everyone enjoyed hot chocolate and cider, cookie decorating, crafts, watching The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, listening to singing groups and visiting and having pictures taken with Santa.

Luther Dining Services held a Holiday Dinner in the Cafeteria from 5 - 7:30 p.m.

Back by popular demand, Luther students participated in the 2nd Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest. This year, students had their pictures taken in their sweaters earlier in the week. The pictures were displayed and all day long on Wednesday, votes were cast for their favorite sweater. The top 5 were selected to be judged with the following three as winners:1st - Taylor Van Clay - $50 Book Shop gift card, 2nd - Lauren Maze - $25 Book Shop gift card and 3rd, Melani Schwartz - $15 gift card.
