Pianist Du Huang has presented solo performances at the Grosser Saal of the Konzerthaus and the Brahms-Saal of the Musikverein in Vienna, Salle Gaveau and Salle Cortot in Paris, Shanghai Music Hall and Beijing Music Hall in China, and numerous concert venues in Czech Republic. His performances have been broadcasted by Minnesota Public Radio, Wisconsin Public Radio, Iowa Public Television, KUCB Radio in Colorado, Blue Lake Public Radio in Michigan, WGUC Classical Radio in Ohio, and Shanghai Radio Station in China. Huang also performs frequently in the Unison Piano Duo with his wife, pianist Xiao Hu. The duo has presented piano duo recitals at Carnegie Hall Weill Recital Hall and Merkin Concert Hall in New York City, United Nations in Vienna, and on many concert series and University Campuses. In the summers of 2007 and 2010, the duo performed at the Vysočina Music Festival, South Bohemia Music Festival, and American Spring Music Festival in Czech Republic.
Huang received early training at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music from the age of eight to eighteen. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor of Music (magna cum laude) and a Master of Music degree. He studied with Professor Gilbert Kalish at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, receiving the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 2001. He has also studied in master classes with pianist Leon Fleisher. His chamber music coaches include Timothy Eddy, Henry Meyer, and Peter Oundjian.
A passionate and caring teacher, Huang enjoys working with young pianists and musicians at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, where he is an Associate Professor of Music. Huang has served as an adjudicator for the 2009 Chicago Duo Piano Festival Competition and the 62nd Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. During the summer, he serves on the piano faculty at Lutheran Summer Music Academy and Festival, a national summer music program. He is also in demand as a visiting professor in conservatories and schools of music in his native country of China.
