The 2013 Baccalaureate Service is Saturday, May 18, at 8 p.m. in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life. All graduating seniors, their friends and families, and the community are invited to participate. Guests are asked to be seated by 7:45 p.m. This year Pastor David Vasquez will be speaking at the Baccalaureate service.
A live stream of the service can be found here.
Rooted in the college’s Christian heritage, this ecumenical service seeks to celebrate the diversity of the graduating class by incorporating readings and prayers from a variety of religious traditions. Audio recordings of the service are available upon request from the Office of College Ministries (http://ministry.luther.edu) or by emailing email@example.com. Video recordings of Commencement are available through the Luther Book Shop by completing an order form by May 23, 2013.
The baccalaureate offering is given in honor of the graduating class, and is designated for regional and global causes that reflect the commitments of the graduating class. Half of this year's offering will benefit the ELCA Malaria Campaign and the other half will be divided between the Decorah Area Food Pantry and Free Clinic.
“Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers.” Romans 12:13
Each year a freewill offering is collected and designated to local and global charities in honor of the senior class. The Baccalaureate offering will be divided among regional, nation, and global ministries.
