Father Phil Gibbs grew up on a small farm, South of Dubuque, in Bernard, IA. He received his undergrad degree (B.A. in Philosophy and Religion) from Loras College in Dubuque and then went to Major Seminary in Baltimore, MD. Fr. Phil graduated and was ordained in May of 1994 with a Master of Divinity. From 94’-99’ he served as an associate pastor in two parishes in the Cedar Rapids area. After that, from 99’-07’ Fr. Phil was called to become the Director of Vocation Awareness for the Archdiocese of Dubuque fulfilling the role of promoting/recruiting vocations for the priesthood. In July of 2007, He was assigned as Pastor of St. Benedict Catholic Church.
