Edwin Andereck, a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, received the Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in vocal performance from the University of Tennessee, and the Doctor of Musical Arts in vocal performance from the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music. At CCM he studied voice with David Adams and operatic characterization with the legendary Italian bass, Italo Tajo. Dr. Andereck has sung more than forty leading and supporting tenor roles with such opera companies as the Cincinnati Opera, Cleveland Lyric Opera, Charlotte Opera, Cedar Rapids Opera, Pine Mountain Music Festival, and Dorian Opera Theatre. As a resident artist with ECCO! and with the North Carolina Opera he appeared as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Ferrando in Cosà fan tutte, and Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia. Recent roles include Goro in Madama Butterfly, Basilio in The Marriage of Figaro, and Spoleta in Tosca. He is also active as a recitalist and concert singer. From 1994 until 1999 Dr. Andereck served as the Apprentice Program Director for the Dorian Opera Theatre.
In 1990 Dr. Andereck joined the Luther College voice faculty, where he teaches studio voice lessons and courses in literature for the voice. He served as president of the Iowa District of the National Association of Teachers of Singing from 2003-2005. Dr. Andereck continues to be active as an adjudicator, guest lecturer, and master class clinician.
