Amy Engelsdorfer received her doctorate in music theory at Indiana University. She also has graduate minors in music history & literature and music information technology. Her interests include pedagogy, history of theory, and Neo-Riemannian transformational theory. Her dissertation focuses on the pedagogical works of Johann Bernhard Logier and Augustus Kollmann, both of whom were active in the London musical scene of the early 19th century. Before moving to Decorah, Amy taught theory at DePauw University. She is a member of the Society for Music Theory, the College Music Society, Society for American Music, Tau Beta Sigma, and Sigma Alpha Iota.

In addition to her interests in music theory, Amy is also an accomplished flutist, with a master of music degree in flute performance from the University of Kentucky, where she studied with Gordon Cole. She currently studies flute with Linda Lamkin. Amy and Linda hope to record and tour in the next few years as a duo and more fully explore chamber literature for two flutes.

When she is not reading theory journals or practicing, Amy can be found spending time with her husband Tim, her dogs Macy and Schroeder, or feeding her Star Trek addiction.
