plus many others!
This camp is designed for the “Big Man” and the heavyweight, from Junior High to the High School heavyweight. THIS CAMP IS FOR YOU! You will learn from the Luther College staff what it takes to be a great “Big Man”’ on the mat!
This camp includes daily competition, instruction and hard drilling. Clinicians will be current Luther upper weight wrestlers and Coaches. We emphasize modified technique for the Big Man. Formal instruction, intensive supervised drills, Big Man Tournament and several hours of daily mat time. Upper weights wrestle differently; let us give you the edge. All wrestlers will receive t-shirt, shorts and team picture and a 12 month weight lifting program tailored specifically for wrestlers.
Big wrestlers have different needs. The "Big Man's" program will focus on the technical needs of larger wrestlers.
Includes the Big Man Wrestling Tournament
Each day will consist of 2 ½ - 3 hours of technique instruction and drilling, followed by a question and answer period, and ending with an intensive live wrestling session.
Wrestlers will be matched according to age and ability level.
There is a limited enrollment so each camper will have an ideal camper-to-clinician ratio (approximately 10 to 1) and receive plenty of individual instruction.
The camp is open to those who have the big man trait and attitude. We will show tips and techniques that allow upper weights and heavyweights to accomplish their goals.
This one week camp will stress technique, weight lifting, proper diet and nutrition, strategies and techniques that have been proven successful for all heavyweights.
You will learn how to prepare and train yourself to dominate during the next season to go above and beyond others.
Housing and Meals
Campers live in a comfortable, air-conditioned residence hall on the Luther campus and eat in the Dahl Centennial Union dining hall. College athletes serve as camp counselors and provide full supervision and help direct all camp activities. Medical services for campers are available through local clinics, as well as the emergency room at the Winneshiek Medical Center. Individual campers are responsible for any medication, and hospital and physician fees.
