Student Bike Shop

SPOKES is Luther’s club for biking enthusiasts! New to the college in spring 2011, there are two main organs of SPOKES: Flip’s Shop, located on the bottom floor of Regents, and SPOKES Biking Club, which runs programs, offers clinics, and is a social group for mountain and road bikers. SPOKES promotes a healthy, sustainable, and active lifestyle by providing students, faculty, and staff with resources to be knowledgeable and safe users of the Decorah area’s many trails and roads.
SPOKES will be hosting mountain bike rides and road bike rides throughout the semester. Emails will be sent out from the SPOKES. If you would like to join the email list, simply email spokes@luther.edu. No experience necessary.
Flip’s Bike Shop:
Flip's was named after Matthew ‘Flip’ Busche, a professional cyclist and recent graduate of Luther College.

Only charging for parts, the shop’s tools and services are free. The shop is run with the intention of helping bikers become more knowledgeable about how their bikes work.
The shop is open Spring 2013 on Tuesday from 9am to 12pm and Wednesday and Thursday from 3-5pm. The shop is located in the bottom floor of Regents, across from the equipment checkout desk. Flip's offers many free services as well as some services at a small fee. Services include:

With the help of Luther’s Wellness Department, two brand new 29” mountain bikes and helmets are available for check out for 24-hours at a time for an annual fee of $20. Trail maps and group ride information can be found in the shop.
Dean’s Bikes, a program adopted by SPOKES and Flip’s Shop, allows international students to check out bikes for one year. Each year, a number of bikes are left at Luther without owners and these bikes are fixed up and added to Dean’s Bikes. As the fleet gets larger, SPOKES plans to extend this program to domestic students as well.
